Mumbai Under Attack
November 27, 2008
On Wednesday night terrorists attacked the city of Mumbai, the financial capital of India. There are many unmet needs in the region that need to be addressed. Thoughts that come to mind include access to emergency care, better security in populated areas, and aid for the poor and impoverished. Many who were directly in the crisis situation will suffer from the catastrophic effects of stress, as they did after 9/11. I hope this makes us realize the fragility of life and the importance of donating valuable time, expertise and service to those in need. Any thoughts?
My thoughts and prayers go out to those inflicted by this horrific tragedy.

The American Association of Physicians of India has several charitable projects through their Charitable Foundation in India and for Asians in the US. They have provided assistance during disaster relief, provided medical equipment, scholarships and run clinics in rural areas. In view of the ongoing tragedy in Mumbai, AAPI can serve as a good resource and liason for exploring opportunities for medical help and assistance. Thanks, Tilak! It looks like Priyanka added AAPICF to our “organizations” page – thanks for the tip.
