Council on Foundations – What matters in philanthropy now?

May 10, 2009

I’ve gotten lost today on the blog of the Council on Foundations 2009 annual conference, “RE: Philanthropy – What Matters Now?”  The blog has some great, concise entries on topics like the role of the Obama administration in promoting philanthropy and the nonprofit sector, ‘teachable moments’ from the Madoff scandal, lots of coverage about the impact of the down economy on foundation endowments and grantmaking, and some coverage of the need for diversity in the realm of private foundations.

And the authors feature two South Asians – Kaberi Banerjee-Murthy, board member of Resource Generation and AAPIP (two organizations we love to follow here at SAPP!), and Sarita Venkat, manager of external communications at the Council on Foundations.

For insightful commentary about the philanthropic sector, you really should check it out!  Also, the Council is a wonderful resource for those of you thinking about establishing a family foundation or looking for resources about your own giving.
