It’s always nice to learn more about rising South Asian philanthropists and do-gooders! Robert Chatwani is head of global citizenship at eBay and was quoted here about how eBay users gave $50 million to charity last year. eBay promotes charitable giving in a variety of ways: allowing sellers to designate some of their sale proceeds; giving buyers the opportunity to make a gift at checkout; and, helping charities sell goods for organizational revenue.
Robert helped eBay launch a partnership called WorldofGood.com with the charity World of Good to create an online marketplace that “convenes thousands of People Positive and Eco Positive sellers and products all in one place, empowering you to shop in ways that align with your personal values.” And, the whole idea began with a trip to India that Robert took with his family!
Here’s an interview at TreeHugger and a podcast at HumDesi Radio if you want to find out more.
