On April 9th, 2009 President Obama appointed two South Asians, Eboo Patel and Anju Bhargava as members of his Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. The current advisory committee is comprised of leaders from various backgrounds and will serve a one year term. Patel is the founder and director of Interfaith Youth Core in Chicago and Bhargava is the president of the Asian Indian Women in America founded in New Jersey.
