Interplast goes to India

September 23, 2010

Riya before surgery for a burn on her arm (c/o Interplast)

Forgive us for being a bit slow on the postings lately – we’re all in back-to-school mode around here.  More posts to come soon!

Those of you who are our regular readers know that I have a soft spot in my heart for my former employer Interplast (“Healing Bodies, Changing Lives”), which provides reconstructive surgery to children in developing countries.  Check out their blog for real-time posts from their current medical visit to Dehradun, India.

One of the things I love about Interplast’s model is how they train doctors in developing countries and then send them on medical trips to other developing countries, often with a very international support team.  This solidifies the networks of medical professionals doing this type of work around the world instead of being America-centric about it – like many other relief organizations are.  In any case, visit their blog for some heart-warming stories from India.
