Shake it up, board members!

September 23, 2010

Over the summer, we posted a number of SAPP Forums and Profiles of board members (like Mallika Dutt, Alka Subramanian, and Aparna Sharma) – and there are more to come!  I also highlighted the AGO advisory board for the upcoming Maharaja exhibit in Toronto.  Our motivation is to encourage more of you to volunteer to become board members in your local community and nonprofit organizations.

On that note, Dien did a really interesting post over at Asian American Giving that challenges the way we think about the work of board members – and encourages us to shake things up!  Nonprofit board meetings can sometimes be boring affairs with staff presentations and carefully orchestrated discussion.  Instead, Dien and her E.D. contacts think there is room to have more fun – and that would lead to more innovation.

Let us know if your organization has a board member who’d like to be interviewed for the SAPP blog by emailing us through the Contact Us page.
