Remembering Haiti one year later

January 16, 2011

I just wanted to highlight the fact that this week is the one-year anniversary of the Haiti earthquake.  Back then, we posted on why we thought it was important for South Asians to give to Haiti recovery and reconstruction, and also some places where you can give.  SAPP even got coverage on Radio Canada International’s Masala Canada show.

In doing a bit of research for an article I’m working on about South Asian philanthropy in Canada, I came across news stories like this one from CBC about a Sikh gurdwara and some South Asian radio stations in British Columbia that raised $1.5 million for Haiti relief efforts last year.  What a great example for all of us!
