Interesting Links: Yunus and more

March 2, 2011

Looks like Muhammad Yunus is facing some bureaucratic nonsense at Grameen Bank, where he has been ousted over technical issues with compliance.  Any of you know more about this than the article seems to?

The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports that Rajat Gupta, who chairs the Gates Foundation’s Global Development Advisory Panel, is under investigation for insider trading by the SEC, implicated in the scandal involving hedge fund manager Raj Rajaratnam.

Asian American Giving has two items of note today as well:

  • Vikram Gandhi, Credit Suisse Vice Chairman of Investment Banking and co-Global Head of Financial Institutions Group, will be stepping down to pursue his interest in philanthropy through his family’s Giving Back Foundation, which has programs in New York, Mumbai and Hong Kong.
  • Prabhakant Sinha, a cofounder of ZS Associates in Chicago, has donated $2 million to his alma mater IIT Kharagpur for a bioenergy centre of excellence.
