SAPP on Radio Canada International!

April 12, 2011

Check out The South Asian Philanthropy Project featured in all three parts of an excellent series last week by Rashi Khilnani on RCI’s Indo-Canadian Report. The series looks at Indian and Indo-Canadian philanthropy, featuring some of the issues and people we have talked about here over the years.

The first part, Indian philanthropists encouraged to give more, focuses on giving in India and the rise of the new wealthy.  It tackles topics like the different definitions of philanthropy and some of the culturally-specific ways that Indians give.

The second part, Philanthropy in India AND with Indo Canadians, focuses on Indo-Canadian philanthropists: “who they are, to whom they give, and why it’s important to them not to remain anonymous.”

The third and final part, Fundraisers warm up to Indo-Canadian philanthropists, describes how some charities are trying to reach out to Indo-Canadians in their fundraising efforts.

Take a listen – I’m sure you’ll enjoy!
